Mallards Game, Awards Night, and Almost Summer Concert

Hi Orch Families!

The first batch of concerts is behind us and we have just a few more events left this year. Some important information for you--please read it all.

1) MHS Orchestra students are performing the national anthem for the Madison Mallards baseball game on SUNDAY 6/19, which is Father's Day. It is a 1:05 pm game against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders.

Some details:

  • Performing students get into the game for free

  • We will also sell group-rate tickets to family and friends

  • Exactly what tickets we get will depend on how many people choose to perform/attend. In any case, the price will be around $10 for admission + a hat or add around $10 for the Pepsi Pregame (all-you-can-eat food and drink).

  • Once we perform, students will be free to sit with families and can leave at any time.

  • We will not run a bus, but people can carpool.

  • Any orchestra student, graduated or not, can perform. Music will be memorized.

  • Rain will cancel our performance.

THIS IS A QUICK SURVEY TO GAUGE INTEREST AND IS NOT A CONFIRMED SIGN-UP!

Please fill this out whether or not you plan to attend--in the next few days please. This will simply help me have an idea of how many students are performing and exactly what tickets we end up with.

2) The Awards Reception originally scheduled for Monday 5/23 is not taking place. All awards and such will be handed out in class or at the final concert.

3) The Almost Summer Orchestra Concert is coming up on Wed 6/1.

  • This is for ALL ORCHESTRA STUDENTS.

--Symphony & Sinfonia will perform.

--Cardinal will watch and support their colleagues, as well as receive some awards.

  • Concert begins at 7:30 pm in the PAC.

  • Arrival time for performers is 7:00 pm (no coordinated warm-up). Non-performers should arrive in time for the 7:30 pm start.

  • Performance dress is our Regular Concert Attire.

  • Featured on the program will be the emotional Barber Adagio for Strings, the premiere of Locrius (a new composition by some orchestra teacher from Middleton, WI), and Carl Orff's epic Carmina Burana featuring members of the Chamber Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir. And, of course, we will honor our year's accomplishments and our graduating seniors.
