Dear Orchestra Families, Hope your November is good so far. Some quick updates: 1) On Tuesday December 19, the Symphony Orchestra, along with 7:00 Jazz and Symphonic Winds, will present an exciting program called NUTCRACKER 2 Ways The orchestra will perform selections from Tchaikovsky's timeless classic ballet suite. Trading tunes will be the 7:00 Jazz Band with Duke Ellington's fabulous jazz adaptation. Both groups will be joined by some local professionals. The whole night will be a magical music landscape. It will be a ticketed event to help cover the cost of the professionals, so please head to the WEB PAGE to purchase your seats now! 2) As part of the preparation for this event, the orchestra and jazz band will be recording again for the NBC15 Sounds of the Season broadcast. Our recording session takes place during class on Tuesday, 11/28. Symphony Orchestra students need to wear all-black concert dress to school that day (they can bring along regular street clothes to change into afterward, but there is not time to change beforehand). 3) Fruit Delivery Day is coming on Saturday, 12/9. Please plan to pick up your fruit on that day (or make alternative arrangements). Also, consider helping out on the day: Sign Up Genius. 4) Symphony students, along with Philomusica and some select Sinfonians, will have the opportunity to perform at the annual Winter Tea events at Sunset Ridge and Sauk Trail on Friday, 12/15. Keep an eye out for more info coming soon. 5) Finally, Solo & Ensemble registration begins in December, so keep an eye out for that info: coming soon! Thanks, and have a great Thanksgiving! SK
