Hello Orchestra Families!
We have been working on 2 sets of concert music for events coming up soon, and where are details about the first of these: Mark Wood’s Breakout Tour Fundraiser Concert on Wednesday 10/26.
Rehearsals
Our students are rehearsing with Mark Wood during the school day:
Philomusica rehearses on Monday 10/24 12:00-1:15
All Philo members eat early lunch, then head to the PAC.
They will miss Advisory and the first part of Block 3
All MHS Orchestra students (Cardinal, Sinfonia, and Symphony) rehearse on Tuesday 10/25 12:45-3:30
Students will miss Block 7 and ASR1+2
As many MHS Orchestra musicians as possible (all of them?) will assist the 6th graders rehearse their music on Wednesday 10/26 11:00-11:30
This is during Sinfonia’s class time
Others can choose to miss the final half hour or Block 2
Concerts
There will be a concert on Wednesday 10/26 and also a 5th Grade Open Workshop on Tuesday 10/25.
The Open Workshop for 5th graders will be 5:00-6:00pm and is designed for the families of 5th grade string musicians, and others could attend.
We could use the assistance of many MHS musicians to help tune the 5th graders and then play along for added depth of sound.
Any orchestra student wanting to help out should arrive at the PAC in their green concert shirt by 4:30pm.
All helpers will get Docendo Discimus or Community Connections credit.
The Mark Wood Fundraiser Concert for MS/HS students happens on Wednesday 10/26 at 7:00pm in the PAC.
All MHS musicians are performing on this concert
WSMA Honors Orchestra musicians should be at their Honors rehearsal instead, unless they specifically get permission from WSMA to attend the concert.
Students should arrive at the Orchestra Room in their green concert shirts by 6:30pm.
Musicians will remain in the rehearsal rooms until their turn to perform on stage.
The screen will be broadcasting the concert into the rooms so students can watch the show.

Tickets are on sale until October 23rd, but remember we may sell out, so plan ahead and purchase early.
Also on sale at this time is Orchestra Spirit Wear! Show your MHS Orchestra Pride with these great items of clothing , mugs or keychains. Bucket hats are back!
We will also be holding a raffle for a Mark Wood Violin Stingray SVX! This instrument was donated by Mark to help raise funds for the MCPASD Orchestra students and we will hand it out from the stage at the concert.
We will need several volunteers for the evening of the concert. Ticket sales, student supervision assistance, raffle sales, etc. Look for a Sign-Up Genius in the next week or so.
Looking ahead
We have our regular fall orchestra concert on Thursday 11/3 at 7:30pm in the PAC. Each ensemble will perform 2 works and then we combine all string ensembles with the winds/brass/percussion for a group finale. There will be a combined warm-up at 6:30pm that evening. More info coming soon!
