Ms. Kristen Flak

Kristen Flak-Solom teaches 6th-8th grade orchestra at Glacier Creek Middle School. Starting violin as a 5th grader, Mrs. Solom has always loved music and wanted to be an orchestra teacher since age 10. Growing up, she also studied piano and participated in choir from middle school through college. Mrs. Solom received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and her Master of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. 

 

Before teaching in Middleton-Cross Plains, Mrs. Solom taught 5th-8th grade orchestra and 6th grade general music in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Outside of school, Mrs. Solom is a member of the Yahara String Quartet. Mrs. Solom holds memberships in the National Association for Music Education and the American String Teachers Association. She is the current State Orchestra Chair for the Wisconsin Music Educators Association. In her free time, Mrs. Solom enjoys cooking, gardening, going on walks, playing board games, crafting, and reading.
